I Am Bound To My Convictions

I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to succeed, but I am bound to live by the light that I have. I must stand with anybody that stands right, stand with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong.
- Abraham Lincoln

You may not always win but you MUST be true to your convictions. In light of some recent developments in our organization, this even rings more true with me today. I would rather be with people who may not see it just exactly the way I do, but will respect my convictions, than to be with those who are simply bitter spirited. They portray one image and live another all the while rejecting those who don't quite measure up to what is portrayed. Webster defines this as hypocrisy!

Ouch! Uh-oh! This is a stinging post, but true. As for me, I find it difficult to be around Pharisees.

Brian, you are preaching now. There is a lot of truth in that post and great quote. BTW I agree with Jana's comment.

Right on, Brian! You couldn't have said it better. BTW, it is good to read your posts again. Keep it up.

Hey, Babe, I got to thinking - you can really bring up some controversial stuff. I bet some people are scared to comment on this post. LOL Can I encourage you to continue? You make us think - big time!

Jana-- Babe, I don't always post things that are so provoking!

Mark and Deb--Thanks for reading again. I don't mean to sound so preachy! LOL

Rhonda--Thanks for checking in and adding me. I count that as an honor.

Un petit mot en français. Je suis tout à fait de même opinion. Il me faut assurer "mon propre salut" Phil. 2:12.

Catherine and Brian--knock off the secret conversation. :)

I appreciate your post and am not afraid to say so. I am sickened by the turmoil among us. I believe it is an accurate assessment, though, to say there are good, upright men on both sides of the issue--men who happen to hold conflicting opinions.

For myself, I have resolved to keep my spirit right and to stay focused on my calling--to be a Christian, and to help spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Love all of you

What a blessing your words. You reinforce the true meaning of a Christian. PS: Since you were always one of my favorite young people, you are now a favorite on my blog list. Keep those thoughts a-rolling.

Hallelujah! I felt Jesus on that one. lol Ask Aunt Jana how I feel about this. lol

Shirley- Thank you for your comment! Yes, there are very good men on both sides who are simply divided by their opinions. I am worried, however, that some men are being manipulated by the idea of holding a position. There has been so much mail sent about what was not supposed to be an organization, that now is an organization, I am dipleased and concerned that this is somewhat deceptive, though some of my friends have chosen to go with them.

Sis. Hopper- Thank you for stopping by. I feel honored that you would put my on your favorites. You and Bro. Hopper have always been an inspiration to me. I love you both!

In going back and reading this post again something hit me. The bible talks about our righteousness being like filthy rags... and I always read that verse with only God's viewpoint in mind. Later I thought about it though and if someone is wearing filthy rags the people, around them notice it too... and smell it in the form of a bitter spirit.

Good thought Weston!

Weston - that is a heavy thought and so true. That smell is a stench in the nostrils of God. You've got me thinking more, too.
